Most of us these days want younger, healthier looking skin?
We try out all the new skincare fads that are out there, all the new creams and treatments and spend a fortune trying to achieve younger looking, healthier glowing skin?
Well, ladies, I'm here to say that younger looking skin, isn't from a jar or expensive or non expensive cream or oil. It's from your lifestyle and what you do on a day to day basis that will affect your skin, than anything else.
It's what you put your skin through each and every day, and thats everything from environment, stress, physical damage, mental damage, what you feed it with or don't feed it with. Will all impact the way your skin looks and feels.
We all have our imperfections, I know I have. We aren't perfect and we aren't meant to be either. We put such high expectations on ourselves and it's really not needed.
All that is needed is some simple, and I mean really simple ways to help boost your skin with natural skin loving healing and nurturing that can turn back the clock. All you have to do is follow each of them all and keep doing each of them for 30 days. It's that simple.
Just super simple easy lifestyle changes that will not only help your skin, but will also help your body and total wellbeing, body and mind.
So what are you waiting for lets get going with:
No. 1 - Sleep!!!! And more sleep!!! Aim for at least 7-8 hours of undisturbed sleep. If you find it hard to sleep, find ways that can help you to drift off, like avoiding your iPhone or tablet for at least 2 hours before going to bed. Set yourself a time each night to go to bed. Switch off all electronic devises at least 2 hours before heading to bed and either jump in a warm salt or relaxing aromatherapy bath for 15mins or grab a book to help you to relax and prepare you body and mind for rest. So avoid anything that is too stimulating for your body and mind at least 2 hours before heading to bed.
No. 2 - Plenty of Water everyday - at least 8 large glasses of clean filtered water a day and keep sipping little bits every 30 mins to avoid your body from becoming dehydrated. By doing this continually for 30 days will help you to hydrate not only your body, but your skin also, helping it to stay nourished and supple, making the skin look more youthful and beautiful and hydrated. If you become dehydrated this will make the skin look dryer and will increase more wrinkles and fine lines much more. So put away your tea or coffee and replace it with water. If you don't like water, then get used to it, as this is your best friend for anti ageing, nothing else works better than a hydrated skin than water. So if you really don't like it, add a slice of lemon or lime to your water or a slice of cucumber to make it taste of something if you don't like the taste of water. But avoid using sugary drinks like cord-orals as this will only do the opersite and dehydrate your skin and cause it to age, plus doesn't do anything for your teeth either. So get drinking beautiful fresh clean water today and see how much your skin improves in texture and suppleness in the next 30 days...
No. 3 - Plenty of Physical Exercise - On average we need to be exercising for about 30 minutes each day. And that can be anything from walking, running, swimming, hiking, playing a sport, cycling, dancing and Yoga. Anything where our bodies can move and that can increase your heart rate. That also includes sex! Yes, anything that can increase your heart rate and get your blood pumping. No, not Stress! As this will have the opposite effect, (more on this later) The more physical exercise that you can do the better as exercise is proven to help boost circulation which increases skin renewal, radiancy and helps to nourish. And if you can exercise outside in the fresh air, even better as breathing in the fresh air will help boost oxygen, not only to your body but to your skin also, making it feel softer, smoother and more youthful. So lets get moving!
No. 4 - A healthy diet - A healthy diet of fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, organic if you can, everyday in your meals. As well as oily fish like mackerel, salmon, kippers. Organic or free range Chicken. Avoiding your intake of processed meats like ham, bacon, pork, burgers as well as fried food, daily, like cheese, cows milk, sugary foods, wheat and gluten as well as burnt food also. As these all age the skin quicker, especially if you are eating these in the summer months as eating any of the processed, burn't or fried food can increase free-radical damage. What is free-radical damage? Free radicals are molecules that can penetrate the deeper layers of the skin from day light, pollution, the air we breath, processed foods, artificial lighting, smoking, sugar, excessive or intense exercise and stress. All of these can age the skin quicker as the free-radicals can penetrate the skin and break down collagen cells within the skins fibres. Thats why it is really important to eat as much fresh fruit and vegetables every single day in every main meal and reduce your consumption of unhealthy foods like processed, fried and sugary foods. Make your plate as colourful as possible with lots of tomatoes, fresh peppers, red onions, green vegetables, sweet potatoes, as colourful as you can make it. These are all high in Antioxidants which are your best friends in fighting free-radical damaging molecules. Plus lots of oily fish like salmon, kippers, macral all high in Omega 3 fish oils to help nourish and feed your skin and skin cells from the inside out. And also try and limit the quantity of food that you eat for each meal, as eating huge meals also causes free radical damage, because the body uses more fuel to break it down, this also includes meat like beef and steaks. So get eating the rainbow and eating beautiful oily omega fishes and watching your potion intake and cut down on deserts and sugary foods and alcohol as this all ages you much faster than time and old age does.
No. 5 - The right supplements for skin health - It's really important to have the right kind of supplements to add to your already healthy diet. This will only increase the healthy eating and food awareness benefits to your skin. Here are the main anti ageing supplements that I recommend my clients on a day to day basis. 1st one is a good quality multivitamin and mineral supplement taken daily after breakfast or lunch everyday. 2nd is a good quality fish oil, like an omega 3 fish oil ideally from a local health food shop. Vit A, C, E and K, Co Enzyme Q10, Collagen, Hyaluronic acid, Probiotics, Selenium, Turmeric and Beta-Carotene. All of these or combined in a skincare supplement and multi vitamin will help your skin to be healthier and will help to increase collagen production and help to protect. But these supplements or any other should never replace a healthy diet of fresh fruit veggies, nuts and seeds, oily fish and free range eggs and chicken. But including them are good. We can help and guide you to the right supplements your body needs as well as the food thats best for your health and the health of your skin.
No. 6 - Avoid Sugar. Yes, avoid refined sugars which are found in sweets, cakes, bakeries, processed foods as well as fizzy drinks, fruit juices, canned drinks as well as beer, white and rosé wine. Sugar is very ageing to your skin. Advanced glycation end products (AGE's) are a complex group of compounds formed when sugar reacts to amino acids in the body and bloodstream. The more sugar you consume the more AGE's you develop. So avoiding as much sugar as you can is well-known key to longitivtiy. Sugar molecules are more damaging to your skin cells as well as decreasing skin's elasticity as it breaks down collagen and elastin within you skin. It also makes your skin more vulnerable to sun damage - which is still the main cause of skin ageing. Try to replace refined sugars with natural sugars such as the sweet herb stevia, organic cane sugar in moderation, organic raw honey in moderation, Avoid all artificial sweeteners and agave syrup and high fructose corn syrup. Avoiding sugar will defiantly keep your skin healthy and stronger as well as your body. So cut it out, you don't need it.
No. 7-Don't Smoke - Yes put it out, you don't need to smoke. Smoking damages the skins dwindling collagen from the word go. At the age of 35 our collagen production stops re-producing more collagen. So its vital to stop smoking if you want younger healthier skin. Smoking can cause premature skin ageing by accelerating the ageing process, because nicotine in cigarettes is a vasoconstrictor, which decreases blood flow to organs, like the skin and deprive it from oxygen and important nutrients, like vitamin A that is necessary for the regeneration of new skin cells.
No. 8 - Stress Less - Stress as we all know only accelerates the ageing process more, especially chronic stress. Stress can break down collagen and deplete the production of new skin cells. Even anticipation of stress can accelerate cellular ageing. It can also age the brain, lead to vision and hearing loss and contributes to an unhealthy lifestyle.
Not all stress is bad, its just the way that we deal with it and manage it. It's important that you practice techniques that will allow you to relax. Yoga is an excellent example as well as massages, facials and meditation. Find something that you love doing or having and include these into your day or week and keep doing things that help you to let go and relax and to manage it better. We all get stress, but it's our choice as to how we want to deal with it and how we want to manage it better for not only our skin but our bodies, health and wellbeing also.
No. 9 - Take care of your skin with the right products - Look after your skin, treat it with respect and be gentle with it. Being mindful of our skin and the functions that it does to protect our vital organs and body. It's vital that we give it all the nourishment and protection it needs to keep it strong, supple and healthy, not only now but in the future also.
Using the correct and right products for your skin type is vital for a healthy younger looking skin. And I don't mean going into a department store and getting a skin analysis. I mean looking in the mirror at your skin and feeling and touching it, what does it feel like, is it dry? Oily? Sensitive? You will know your skin more than anyone else as it's your skin. So being mindful of your skin and how it acts and functions is really important. Plus giving your skin natural chemical free products that don't harm your skin is really important than knowing your skin. Give them nourishing creams and serums, oils daily and gentle face scrubs once a week as well as either deep cleansing masks or nourishing ones. Giving you skin what it needs will help your skin to thrive and to benefit from the natural ingredients. Some of my all time natural skincare products which are a must are MyChelle, Madara, Neal's Yard Remedies, Dr. Hauschka, Green People, Inika make-up - the best! John Masters organics, Kimberly Sayer, Living Nature, Suki and many, many more... The website that I choose to buy all my natural products are from lovelula.com Im not an affiliate of theirs but I love the range of chemical free products that they have and I highly recommend that you check out what they have. When you have the right skincare, it's so super easy to have amazingly beautiful natural, healthy and younger looking skin. I promise you. Check it out and give your skin some loving!
No. 10 - I recommend taking some time out to have a "Time Miracle Facial" at least once or twice a month to help to prevent environmental stress damage like UV rays, pollution and chemicals. Stimulating the production of youth proteins which reveals a more youthful appearance. Plus its 100% natural and can reduce fine lines and wrinkles as well as leaving the skin more smoother and firmer.
It's especially great for mature skins and I highly recommend it if you are wanting go-to anti ageing facial that really works and smells beautiful.
