Summer Solstice and International Yoga Day 2024

Happy Summer Solstice and International Yoga Day - 22nd June 2024!



Happy Summer Solstice blessings, everyone! Today is Midsummer, the longest day and shortest night of the year.


Litha, also known as the Summer Solstice, typically falls on 20, 21 or 22 June in the Northern Hemisphere. For modern healers and spiritual people, it’s a time of abundance, warmth and celebration of light. It’s a powerful moment in the Wheel of the Year, symbolising the peak of solar energy and the fullness of life. This is really the start of summer!!


It is also International Yoga Day tomorrow, 22nd June, which is yearly celebrated around the world around the Summer Solstice!


And to celebrate this beautiful time of year I am offering my energy healing therapies until the end of July 2024. It is actually the 10th International Day of Yoga.


Today it is practiced in various forms around the world and continues to grow in popularity.

Recognising its universal appeal, on 11 December 2014, the United Nations proclaimed 21 June as the International Day of Yoga.


The International Day of Yoga aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga. It serves as a global platform to raise awareness about the various benefits of practicing yoga.


The word yoga means to unite or to join. This symbolises the union of body and consciousness, and the philosophy originated in India about 5,000 years ago. One of the original goals of yoga was spiritual growth. Another goal was mastery over the physical and mental body. Today, two billion people around the world do yoga, some a form of exercise, and others to relieve stress. They have discovered all of yoga’s health benefits and that attributes to its growing popularity.


For me Yoga is my way of life and I have been practising yoga every single day now for over 19 years. I'm also a qualified Yoga teacher and trained in India in the foothills of the Himalayas - Rishikesh over 20 years ago.


As I no longer teach anymore, I still practice daily and love to write about Yoga and it's many health and wellbeing benefits. I have written in some well known health magazines over the years, and I have also written and self published two yoga books in the past 3 years, for beginners and more experienced yoga enthusiasts.
